I. erzurumica Davis in Notes R.B.G. Edinb., 26: 18, t. 2(1964). Figure 15, p. 291.
Biennial (?). Stems up to 60 cm, crisply pubescent, laxly paniculate from the middle. Leaves thin, adpressed pubescent; basal leaves oblanceolate (?), withered at flowering time: median stem leaves oblong or lanceolate, subobtusely auricled. Flowers 4 mm. Fruits orbicular-elliptic, 7-10(-14)x 5-9(-ll) mm, rounded or emarginate at the ends, densely velutinous (rarely glabrous), loculus prominently rugose, shortly villose, wing thin, 1.5-2 x loculus and subundulate when ripe, midrib slender. Fl. 6(-7). Stony slopes and gravelly places, 1250-1680 m.
Type: [Turkey A8 Erzurum] Aşkale to Bayburt, Schotterhänge 11 km nord-westlich Aşkale, 1680 m, 27 vi 1951, Huber-Morath 11015 (holo. Hb. Hub.-Mor.!).
N. Armenia. A8 Erzurum: Tortum G., 1250 m, Stn. & Hend. 6125! B7 Erzincan: Erzincan to Refahiye, on Kara Da. 29 km NW of Erzincan, 1560 m, Hub.-Mor. 13109! A9 Erzurum: nr. Oltu, 12 vii 1906, Koenig (both velutinous and glabrous-fruited variants)!
Endemic; Ir.-Tur. element. Closely allied to l. cappadocica subsp. cappadocica from which it differs in its apparently biennial habit, taller stems bearing a larger panicle, and more rounded, often emarginate fruits with a transversely wrinkled loculus; the last feature is also characteristic of the Caucasian l. latisiliqua Stev. sensu stricto.
